A visit from Västerbotten, Sweden

Last Thursday, the ITRC had a visit from Västerbotten in Sweden. Three employees of Region Västerbotten came to Iceland to study the development of tourism in the country. For this reason, ITRC hosted a meeting at the University of Iceland to discuss sustainability and challenges in the development of tourism towards sustainability.

At the meeting, Kajsa Grandics Åberg introduced the organisations work on how Region Västerbotten has implemented the Global Sustainable Tourism Council sustainability indicators in the region.

At the meeting, María Reynisdóttir from the Ministry of Employment and Innovation, also presented the government's actions and the government's policy towards sustainable tourism.

At the same time, Ásta Kristín Sigurjónsdóttir, Managing Director of the Icelandic Tourism Cluster presented the activities of the Tourism Cluster and the motivational project of Responsible Tourism.
