A new book on labour issues in the tourism industry in the Nordic countries will be published 2020. The book is an initiative of the tourism workforce research group hosted by ITRC. The four editors of the book are all members of the research group.

A book contract was recently signed with the publishers Palgrave Macmillan, part of the Springer Group, for publication in 2020 under the title: Tourism Employment in Nordic Countries – Trends, Practices and Opportunities. The book, which will review current issues in tourism employment as they apply specifically to Nordic countries, is being co-edited by four members of the Tourism Workforce research group hosted by the Icelandic Research Centre: Gunnar Þór Jóhannesson, Iceland. Andreas Walmsley, England, Kajsa G. Åberg, Sweden. Petra Blinnika, Finland.

Tourism Employment in Nordic Countries – Trends, Practices and Opportunities will be the first book of its kind, not only to focus on tourism workforce in Nordic countries, but the first of its kind that will take a geographic perspective on issues that relate to tourism employment specifically. Examples of topics that will be included are migration, youth employment, responsible tourism and employment and current trends in tourism employment. Thus, the text will appeal to a wide readership, in academia and policy making circles in Nordic countries, but also beyond.
