How do tourism entrepreneurs navigate through crisis? Introduction to a new teaching material

Recently, ITRC held the first multiplier event where the products of the Erasmus+ project T-Crisis NAV were introduced. Fourteen employees and doctoral students in Geography and Tourism at the University of Iceland attended.

The goal of the project is to develop teaching material to enable HEIs to educate existing SMEs and future entrepreneurs in the tourism sector to gain the skills and tools needed to successfully navigate their business through a virulent crisis.

Two courses were developed, on the one hand, a comprehensive training course enabling owner/managers of tourism SMEs to
detect and prepare for a potential business crisis, teach specific measures to cope with a business crisis and build up crisis resilience. The second course was designed to assist HEI educators’ and students’ understanding of how regional tourism destinations can not only recover from future potential crises but, if possible, mitigate the impact, or even better prevent the crisis from happening in the first place.

The course material is accessible to anyone who is interested in using it in teaching. The curriculum can be found on the project's website www.tourismrecovery.eu

We encourage everyone who is interested to look at the subject, there you can find a wide range of teaching materials supported by practical examples and further reading material.
