T-CRISIS-NAV - a new Erasmus+ project

The ITRC will participate in the Erasmus+ project Navigating SMEs in the tourism sector through crisis (T-CRISIS-NAV). The project is managed by the University of the Highlands and Islands in Scotland. The project is carried out in collaboration with companies and institutions in Ireland, Germany, Denmark, and Iceland and will run for three years (2020-2023).

The COVID-19 crisis has had a major impact on tourism in Europe as well as internationally. In such a situation, it is important that managers and employees in the tourism industry receive appropriate training to be able to sail through the turbulent sea that accompanies crisis such as this.

The project aims to develop curricula and materials to enable different educational institutions to offer education and training for small and medium-sized companies and entrepreneurs of the future, in the tourism industry, in order to acquire the skills, tools and equipment necessary to deal with crisis effectively.

The role of the Icelandic Tourism Research Center in this project is diverse, but as a representative of the higher education institutions, RMF is responsible for quality assessment of the material that the project is intended to create.
