ITRC is among the organisers of a session on drive tourism in rural areas at the 33rd Nordic Symposium on Hospitality and Tourism Research, which will be held in Bornholm in September.

Last week, Ása Marta Sveinsdóttir, a researcher at ITRC, visited Nord University in Bodø, Norway, where she worked together with Hindertje Hoarau-Heemstra, an associate professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences, on the development of a new research proposal.

The Icelandic Tourism Research Centre (ITRC) is leading a new European collaborative project on behalf of the University of Akureyri. The project is funded by the Erasmus+ grant programme for two years (2024-2026).

Recently, the book Responsible Tourism Best Practices in the Nordic Countries was published by Jamk university of applied sciences, Finland. The book project was initiated by the ICRT Finland network and was implemented in fruitful Nordic cooperation.

ITRC, in cooperation with Transformia, held an online event to launch We lead’s new Gender Advocacy Toolkit.

ITRC hosted a session on Rural Tourism Routes at the Nordic Symposium on Tourism and Hospitality Research. Six presentations highlighted the diverse roles and impacts of roads and routes in rural tourism.
