The ITRC welcomes Rabab to the team!

Here is an introduction from Rabab:

My name is Rabab, I'm an international student at the University of Prince Edward Island. I'm doing a Master of Arts in Island Studies, Island Tourism program; course-based stream. It is a two-year program and I'm currently in my first year. I'm from Egypt and I have a bachelor's degree in English literature. I developed a passion about islands and tourism because I used to work as a flight attendant for a very long time and I used to travel a lot. I was interested in travelling, islands, hotels, resorts, sightseeing, and tourist attractions. This was the main reason I went back to academic studies, and I started pursuing a master's degree in island studies and tourism.

My practicum research project with Icelandic Tourism Research Centre is about tourism in Grimsey Island and the influence of tour operators, cruise liners and DMO's in presenting the destination image to tourists. I will be writing two reports: a literature review about destination image presentation focusing on cold water islands, and a content analysis report about Grimsey Island as tourist destination. I'm excited to be part of this research project because Iceland is one of the places that I'm looking forward to visiting one day and it is on the top of my bucket list. If it was not for the Covid-19 pandemic, I might have visited Iceland to do my research project over there. Thank you for this great opportunity and looking forward to starting my research.
