Successful Workshop Explores Interactive Solutions for Literary and Film Tourism
On 24 March 2026, the Icelandic Tourism Research Centre hosted a workshop on interactive solutions for literary and film tourism at Tæknigarður in Reykjavík. Six participants attended the event, which focused on how digital and interactive technologies can be used to create engaging experiences for visitors interested in Iceland’s literary and cinematic heritage.
The program included an introduction to the UPLIFT project as well as a presentation by Hringur Hafsteinsson from Gagarín, who shared insights and experiences from developing interactive visitor experiences. The workshop sparked lively and engaging discussions about the potential of immersive technologies in tourism and the practical considerations involved in implementing and utilising such solutions.
The event formed part of the UPLIFT project, a two-year Erasmus+ funded initiative that brings together educational institutions and industry partners from Iceland, Denmark, Ireland, Lithuania, and Slovenia to promote innovation and knowledge development in tourism and cultural experiences.
