The Icelandic Tourism Research Centre has since March 2015 participated in a project developing slow adventure tourism products. The SAINT project - Slow Adventure in Northern Territories. The slow movements’ ideas have been incorporated into tourism and ways in which places can be experienced without taxing their environment.

Last Friday, February 2nd, institutions and projects celebrated their move to the 7th floor at Borgir. Coffee and cake was served to a good crowd of people who came to explore the new facilities.

Icelandic Tourism Research Centre, the Tourism studies of the University of Iceland, Responsible Tourism Partnership and Plymouth University recently organised an international symposium in Reykjavik about overtourism.

In the autumn of 2016, the ITRC organised the 5th conference of the International Polar Tourism Network. Recently published issue of the journal Resources, focuses on papers presented at the conference.

ITRC is hosting 13th International Conference on Responsible Tourism in Destinations in September in Reykjavik, Iceland. Registration is now open.
