UPLIFT: Partner meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania

At the end of October, partners in the Uplift project met for a two-day project meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania. At the meeting, the first year of the project was reviewed. The main outcomes of Year 1 were the new educational materials, published this summer.

Furthermore, the next phases of the project were discussed. Next spring, workshops will be held in four of the partner countries, including one in Iceland, for tourism operators, educators, and students, who are interested in learning about the use of immersive technologies for literary and film tourism.

In addition to meetings on the first day, participants went on a site visit to the virtual reality exhibition Creation of the Worlds,” which is based on paintings by M. K. Čiurlionis. Čiurlionis was a Lithuanian writer, composer, and painter. Despite dying at a young age, his artistic work has had a significant influence on contemporary culture in Lithuania. At the exhibition, his paintings come to life, drawing the viewer into a world of fantasy and unfamiliar landscapes.

On the second day, the partners and their guests took part in a half-day workshop where they were guided in the use of 3D imaging and had the opportunity to try creating promotional material in the Faux Real Studio operated by Vilnius Tech.

Here are a few snapshots from the workshop.
